MOLASSES RAISIN COOKIES

3/4 cup shortening 1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup molasses 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon cloves
2 1/4 cup all purpose flour 1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening and brown sugar.  Beat in molasses.  Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Combine flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt and cloves - gradually add to creamed mixture.  Stir in raisins and nuts.  Drop by rounded tablespoon 2 inches apart onto a greased baking sheets.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minuets or until edges are slightly browned.  Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
